Week of 6/22/2023 | Circle-Up Reflection Questions

1 - SHAUN LIVINGSTON | THE LOCKER ROOM

2 - SHAUN LIVINGSTON | BOB MEYERS THE COMMUNICATOR

3 - DRAYMOND GREEN | SET THE TONE

Shaun Livingston won championships as a player and front-office executive with Golden State Warriors, so he has a unique perspective on one of the greatest runs and dynasties we have seen in sports.

In an interview with All The Smoke, Shaun talked about his basketball career and life, but in the first few minutes, he talked specifically about his experience with the Warriors, the locker room culture during this last season, the leadership of GM Bob Myers, and the mindset and leadership of Draymond Green.

You can watch the entire interview here:

SHAUN LIVINGSTON | THE LOCKER ROOM

Right before the 2022-23 season started, Draymond Green infamously punched and knocked out teammate Jordan Poole. From the outside looking in, it's hard to imagine how hostile that locker room environment must have been.

At the 3:00 mark, Matt Barnes asked Shaun, as someone who has shared that locker with those guys, what were your thoughts?

Shaun said, “When you have been in the locker room, you know which teams have a chance based on how we rock with each other, and it starts at the top with the best players. The team and the players make everything go and control what happens on the floor. So they have to be locked in, and it starts off the court and in the locker room. They have to build trust.”

SOMETHING(s) TO THINK ABOUT?

1 - What is your biggest takeaway from the video?

2 - How important is having a healthy culture in the locker to team success?

3 - How would you rate our culture on a scale of 1-5?

4 - What can we do to help improve our locker room culture?

SHAUN LIVINGSTON | BOB MEYERS THE COMMUNICATOR

A few minutes later, Shaun was asked about Bob Meyers. Bob was the president of basketball operations and general manager for the Golden State Warriors during their run.

Shaun said this about Bob:

“His value is the relationships he builds. Bob is a fantastic communicator. He can talk to anybody about anything, and it just levels the playing field. NBA locker rooms are filled with big names and big stars whose names can hold and carry a lot of weight. Bob can make everyone feel comfortable and level out the playing field at all three levels: ownership, coaching, and players.”

SOMETHING(s) TO THINK ABOUT?

1 - What is your biggest takeaway from the video?

2 - Who is the person on your team or in your life that does that? Who is the communicator who keeps everyone together?

3 - What can you do to be a better communicator?

DRAYMOND GREEN | SET THE TONE

Later in the interview, Shaun was asked about Draymond Green and his energy and leadership. Draymond Green is not the most talented basketball player in the world, but he was the leader of the Golden State Warriors during their championship run.

Shaun said this at the 7:00 mark about Draymond’s importance to the organization, on and off the court:

“His mindset and wanting to maximize his potential and the potential of everyone around him. If he sees that you aren’t giving 100% effort, he is going to call you out on it, and it doesn’t matter who it is. He sets the tone and he keeps guys honest. He will call you out and tell you we need more because he holds himself to that same standard.”

SOMETHING(s) TO THINK ABOUT?

1 - What is your biggest takeaway from the video?

2 - Who is Draymond in your life? Who is the person in your team who holds people accountable?

3 - What can you learn from Draymond Green and his mindset?
