The Positive and Negative Wolf

"Everything in life is a choice, and that includes our thoughts and our words.”

Which wolf do you feed?

This is an old Cherokee Indian legend that illustrates the most important battle of our lives – the one between our good and bad thoughts. Here is how the story goes:

A man went to a village to speak to a wise woman about what had been troubling him. He said to her, “I feel like there are two wolves inside me. One wolf is positive and full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control and the other is evil and full of hate, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. They fight all the time, and I don’t know who is going to win.”
The woman thought for a moment and said, “I know who is going to win; the one you feed the most. So feed the positive wolf.”

We all have a positive wolf and a negative wolf inside of us, and the key is to feed the right wolf so it becomes bigger and stronger.

Everything in life is a choice, and that includes our thoughts and our words.

Our thoughts can be our own worst enemy if we let them. Think about how you may be “feeding” your negative thoughts by allowing them to rule your mind. Next time you have a negative thought, catch it and ask yourself, “What is this thought doing for me?”

If it is helping you, keep it. If it is hurting you, replace it with something better.

Question of the Day: Which wolf do you feed the most: the positive or negative wolf?
