Mid-Week Devo | Enjoy the Journey

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet and make me walk upon mine high places to the chief singer on my stringed instruments. - Habakkuk 3:19

Enjoy the journey.

Life is full of storms. It is full of ups and downs. There are obstacles and barriers at every turn.

But you can still enjoy the journey. Even if you are in the middle of a storm, you can find joy. You might not enjoy the storm, but you can enjoy your life.

That is one of the keys to life - finding and sustaining love, joy, and peace through the good and the bad.

I’ve never had migraine headaches, but I have heard how devastating they can be. I often listen to preacher Joyce Meyer’s podcast in the morning, and on one of her episodes, her husband told a story about the migraine headaches he used to have.

He had migraines while he was a young boy, and they stayed with him through his young adult years.

He said right before the migraine headaches would hit him, he would get a blur in his eyes, and he learned DREAD that. He would dread it because he knew what was coming after that; the devastating migraines.

But one day, he said God gave him a random word. God told him, “Don’t be impressed by it. You can do everything you do with that migraine headache that you do without it. You can still enjoy your life.”

He learned he didn’t have to dread or fear the blur in his eyes or even the migraine headache anymore, and the migraine headaches left.

Dread is a forerunner of fear. Dread wants you to fear what is coming in the future. If you don’t dread, fear won’t have any interest in you.

He said that two years after the migraines left him, he gave his testimony about the migraines, and then they began to come back! But he said when you have victory once, you know exactly what to do. The first thing he said to himself was, “I could care less. I’m not afraid of it,” and the migraine lasted two seconds before it disappeared.

What is your blur? What is the thing that causes you to dread and fear? What is your migraine?

The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. The devil wants to use dread and fear to trap you and keep you trapped, but if you learn that the Word of God says you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength, the devil can’t maintain his stronghold over you.

No matter what you are going through right now, God is working. Enter His rest, do your part, and enjoy life.

All our circumstances don’t have to be good for you to enjoy your life. The devil is after your joy because the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

Enjoy the journey. Even if you have a storm going on, enjoy it.
