“The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed.” - Chinese proverb

When it gets hard, will you quit or keep going?

There is a meme where two guys are digging for diamonds, and the man on the bottom stops and turns around when he is just a few strikes away from the treasure.

Will that be you? Will you quit right before you reach your goals or treasure?

Swimming legend Michael Phelps is one of the most successful Olympians of all time, but he almost quit before his big breakthrough.

Despite his talent, Phelps hated the early mornings, the constant training, the feeling of missing out. His coach, Bob Bowman, pushed him relentlessly, but even he questioned Phelps’s dedication. After the 2004 Olympics, where he fell short of expectations, Phelps nearly walked away. He was burned out and lost his focus.

A heart-to-heart with Bowman snapped him back. Bowman told him the truth: "You're throwing it all away,” and then, something clicked. Michael realized he wasn't happy because he wasn't being true to himself. He rededicated himself to the sport and rediscovered his love for swimming, and he went on to win 28 medals and became an icon, an inspiration, not just for his achievements but for his resilience, his ability to overcome obstacles, to almost quit but ultimately find his way back to his passion.

There will be times when you want to quit. When you do, remember why you started in the first place, and surround yourself with people who believe in you, who will hold you accountable, and who will motivate and inspire you to keep going.
