To be the best, you have to study the best and compete against the best. Becoming the best is a privilege that you have to earn from hard work and dedication.
Kobe Bryant was one of the best. He made it a goal early in his to become the best. He then studied the best and he couldn’t wait to compete against the best.
In one of his first interviews, Kobe said that he dissected the games of all the greats so that he could take different parts of their game and put them into his game so that he could be a well-rounded athlete.
Every Monday in 2023, I made a blog post about Kobe Bryant. I wanted to study and learn more about Kobe Bryant and his Mamba Mentality.
My biggest takeaway from studying Kobe was his passion. He had a true passion for wanting to become the best he could become, whether that was as a basketball player, a husband, a father, or a writer and creator. In an interview after his final game, he said he wanted to be remembered as a talented overachiever. He wanted to be remembered as someone who had a lot of talent but also squeezed the juice and got everything out of his talent and ability.
As we go into 2024, I hope to carry some of that passion into growing myself so that I can grow the people around me.
The Mamba Mentality is all about working to become the best version of yourself. Wake up with a goal to better yourself, work hard to achieve those goals, reflect at night on what you did well, what you could do better, and what adjustments you need to make, and repeat every day until it becomes who you are.
But remember to enjoy it. Enjoy the journey because we only get to do it once!
