Kobe Bryant did an interview at USC where he talked about his love for the game of basketball. Kobe said, “The trick is finding what you love to do. If you have to get up every single morning and remind yourself how hard you need to work, you probably need to choose a different profession. I wake up in the morning excited to get to it.
If I’m not training or watching a game of basketball, I’m missing it. If you have that feeling, you are truly doing what God has put you on this earth to do.”
Kobe was then asked at what age did basketball become his primary focus. Kobe said he felt like he was born to play, and started playing at two years old because he was always around the game.
He then said that he would geek out about the smell of the ball, the sound it makes when it hits the floor, the sounds of the different types of nets, and the different ways that baskets hang on the backboard.
My biggest takeaway is that when you truly know what you were put on this earth to do, you love it and so many small things about it, and you wake up wanting to do it. As Kobe said, the trick is finding what you love to do and what you love about it.
