“Don’t let perfection get in the way of growth and greatness.” - Kim Corbitt

When you make a mistake, break a habit, or miss a day, do you reset quickly or does one bad moment or day into two or three?

  • Steph Curry misses more shots than he makes, but he is considered the best shooter of all time (47.1%)..

  • Josh Gibson has the best batting average of all time, but he failed to get on base more often than he was successful (0.372).

  • Tom Brady is considered the goat, but he completed less than 3 out of 4 of his passes (64.3%).

  • Roger Federer is one of the best tennis players of all time, but he lost 46% of his points.

The best of the best know how to manage failure and keep going. The best are consistent.

The best have a Next Play Mentality where they don’t let the last play affect their next play.

One of the best leaders I know says often, “Don’t let perfect get in the way of growth and greatness,” and, “It’s okay to miss one day, just don’t miss twice.”

Nobody is perfect, and the best of the best often fail more than they succeed, but they don’t let that or anything else stop them.

Have a vision, create a plan, then be disciplined and stick to the plan knowing that obstacles and failure will be a part of the journey.

And when you fall off track, don’t beat yourself up - just get back on track by making the next right play.

Questions of the Day: How do you keep perfection from getting in the way of growth and greatness?
