“Success is the product of your daily habits, not once-in-a-lifetime transformations.” - James Clear

I once heard a successful Division 1 basketball coach say, “If I could follow you around for 48 hours, I could tell if you will be successful or not.”

Success does not come from what you want but from what you do. If you want to be successful, you have to do what successful people do - you have to have habits that lead to success.

James Clear wrote the best-selling book Atomic Habits because he wanted to share his knowledge and experience on how to build good habits and break bad ones. Too often, we burn ourselves out trying to make once-in-a-lifetime transformations that don’t stick. Instead, we should focus on creating or eliminating small habits that will stick and lead to big changes over time.

Here are three key takeaways that can impact how you create championship habits:

1 - Focus on Systems, Not Just Goals:  A system is the process that leads to the result. The system is the plan. Have a goal, make a plan, and stick to it.

2 - Small Change, Big Impact: Instead of trying to change your entire life overnight, try to get 1% better by changing one habit and sticking to it.

3 - Change Your Identity: Your habits should align with the person you want to become. Identify who you want to be and become it with your thoughts and actions.

Your habits, what you do every day, either get you closer to your goals or keep them further away from them.

Questions of the Day: Start small. What is one thing you can change today, and how can you make sure the new habit sticks?
