How do you stay off the emotional roller coaster? How do you stay even through the good and the bad and not ride the wave of emotions?
Brett Ledbetter is a thinking partner with some of the country's top coaches, athletes, and leaders.
When asked at the 9-minute mark of the video above how best to stay off the emotional roller coaster, Brett said, “Stack days. Practice being good that day, being good that hour, being good that moment, and when you do slip up, recalibrate yourself quicker.”
Brett shared a stat about tennis legend Roger Federer. He said Federer lost 46% of his points, but his winning percentage was 80%. He deals with an undesired result 46% of the time, and he is able to get the desired result so often because he has mastered handling adversity.
Use the undesired results to get better at not spiraling, and use the desired results to get better at not getting too high. The more you stay clear-headed and even, you will find that more people start to attract themselves to you because they don’t have clear-headed voices in their lives.
SOMETHING(s) TO THINK ABOUT
1 - What is your biggest takeaway from the post?
2 - When is it hardest for you to stay even and clear-headed: when you are doing great and get drunk off success, or when you are struggling and in the pit?
3 - When you get too high and drunk off success, how do you sober up and stay humble?
4 - When you are stuck in the pit, how do you lift yourself back up and return back to normal?
