“If you can't do the little things right, you will never do the big things right." - Admiral William McRaven

Do you make your bed every morning?

In a 2014 commencement speech at the University of Texas, Admiral William McRaven shared 10 life lessons he learned from the Navy Seals, starting with making your bed.

Admiral McRaven said, “If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another, and by the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right, and if by chance you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that is made, that you made, and a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better. So if you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.”

Greatness starts small and builds over time, but too often we want to skip the small stuff and get to the big stuff.

Start small.

Master one thing every morning, and build from there.

If you can get to the point where you master 5 small things every day, you can change your life and the lives of the people around you.

Start by making your bed.

Questions of the Day: Will you make your bed every morning? What other small things can you do to get your day started off right?
